Caden's hospital visit and recovery

Caden has always been a wheezy baby.  Benjamin says it sounds like he is purring.  When Caden gets sick, he sounds horrible. He has an inhaler that we use when he gets sick, but it doesn't always do a lot of good.  Caden got a cold last week and sounded bad pretty fast.  I took him to the doctor thinking we would get an antibiotic and be on our way, but when we got there they took his oxygen reading and it was low so they had him do a nebulizer treatment in the office and it didn't do anything.  Caden actually fell asleep during the treatment and his oxygen levels dropped even more.  The doctor told me he needed to go to the hospital.

Caden and I got to the hospital and when they hooked him up the monitors, he went right up to normal oxygen levels and was happier than he had been in a couple days.  I thought we would be on our way by bed time.  Then Caden fell asleep again and his oxygen numbers dropped again.  They gave him some oxygen while he slept and told us we would be staying the night.  He had to be able to sleep without oxygen before we could go home.

About this time they came in with this long tube that they put up through his nose and sucked out a bunch of snot.  Caden hated it but it helped a bunch.  He went to bed for the night and his oxygen only dropped a couple times and he was able to come out of it without oxygen.  He woke up pretty perky and we were able to leave by lunch time.  It was pretty good as far as hospital stays go.  Now he is back to normal and feeling good.  He has a daily nasal steroid he has to take as well as acid reflux medication.  The doctors are hoping that these will stop the wheezing. We hope so too.
