Last night we lost our beloved fish, Billy. It was especially hard on Britton. He was okay when it was floating dead in the fish tank but flushing it down the toilet was more than he could bear. He sobbed and sobbed about Billy. Britton likes to write and draw pictures when he is sad or mad so he decided that he needed to write down what he was feeling. First he wrote on a piece of paper "I miss my fish." He was still sad though and then he thought that he needed to flush a note down the toilet for Billy. It was a great idea. I suggested toilet paper (so we wouldn't clog the pipes) and he wrote him a note with help from me on spelling. When he was done, he flushed it down the toilet so his dead fish could have his note and he was finally ready for bed. I must say I'm impressed with his grief process. I'm glad he found a way to have closure because talking about the good life his goldfish lead just wasn't cutting it. He told me this morning he missed his fish but he was excited too because he wants to use the money he is saving to buy a new fish. I sure hope it lives....

Wow! He's a great speller. Spencer get so frustrated when he's reading or writing.
Man, life is hard when you are four. I wish you better luck with Fish #2. My own Sharkie only lasted 5 months. Goldfish just aren't that hardy.
