Camp Allegience!

This weekend was our annual 4th of July camp out. This year it was Camp Allegiance at Ponderosa State Park. We had a lot of fun. On Friday we did some geocaching and had a nice hike. We also did a candy walk (kind of like a cake walk), and did some target practice with pellet guns. While we were looking for a place to shoot, I startled a deer that was sleeping and it lept into the air and ran off. Actually, I don't know who was more surprised. We both jumped pretty high.

Saturday was the big parade. This was definitely our best turn out. The campers were really excited and we had quite a few people join the parade! The pinata at the end was a big hit too. In the afternoon we went swimming then came back to camp for the big camp Olympics. They weren't quite as big as a hit this year. There was some bad sportsmanship all around. It may be our last Olympics....But the kids did have some fun in between the tantrums and fighting. After the Olympics it was time for dinner and we made a picnic and headed to the beach again for dinner, games and waiting for fireworks. We had a great time at the beach. The boys all played in the water and sand and the adults talked and played games. Grandpa Kurt made a really great game where you throw washers and it was a big hit. The city of McCall must have had some cut backs because the fireworks were really short and not nearly as impressive as usual, but we were happy for what we had.

Poor Benjamin had a fever the whole weekend and was pretty miserable. Luckily he had Grandpa to hold him. He rallied for the important things and seemed to have fun anyway. Poor kid. The traffic home was horrific and the drive that normally takes two hours took 4. It took us an hour to go 30 miles. We were all happy when we arrived home and were able to take a shower or bath. Ahh, what a weekend! It was fun but exhausting.

Britton learned to Hoola-Hoop while we were camping. It was a big accomplishment!
Benjamin blowing bubbles. This was the only thing he wanted to do and thank goodness we had them because he was not a happy camper (he, he) while he was sick.

The deer that kept eating outside our trailer each night. Acey kept growling at it, but it didn't care. It seemed really interested in Acey. There were actually two deer, but we only got a picture of the one.
