Today was Britton's first day of Kindergarten. I can't believe we actually have a kid in school. It really seems like it is way too fast. But Britton is very ready. He woke up this morning and asked "Is the bus here?" We told him he needed to get dressed and eat breakfast before the bus would come. When he was ready he wore his backpack around the house for the next 45 minutes. We are almost the last bus stop, which is nice. We put Britton on the bus and followed the bus to school.
When we got to school, we had Britton walk around to the back of the school to where the playground is and find his classroom door. Then he dropped his backpack off and ran off for the playground. When the bell rang, he ran to the door and walked in when the teacher open the door. He found his name on the table and got to work coloring his paper. Not even a good-bye! Of course we went in and said good-bye anyway.
When the bus dropped him off this afternoon he kept talking about all the friends he had at school. He was really excited to see some kids from his preschool. He said they got to take a tour of the school but he was soooo hungry because they didn't give him any snacks. I'm pretty sure they usually do, but apparently not today. I had to give the school money for milk, so I know he'll at least get that. I asked Britton if he liked his teacher and he said "Not very much." That's about right for Britton. He liked school though and that's all that matters. I signed up as a volunteer to teach a cooking class once a month there so I'll get to see him in action too. It's going to be a fun year!
