Remember the time we opened a business?

So tomorrow completes our second week of Active Minds Child Care and Preschool being open.  It has been an overwhelming, exhausting and successful couple of weeks.  To start out we had an open house the Saturday before we opened. We had all our employees there ready to greet families.  We were so worried that only a few families would show up.  At 11:00 when the open house started, there was a flood of people at the door.  It was crazy!  We thought it was just a fluke but it turned out we were swamped the entire day!  By the time the open house was over, we had 15 new families registered with us.  We were able to open on Monday with about 30 families.  It was more than we ever expected!  Two weeks later we are up to 43 families and have a waiting list for our 3 year old preschool.  We have some amazing staff that are experienced and very helpful.  It has been a very stressful couple of weeks, but we're hoping we'll get into a groove soon.

We want to say a huge thank you to my mom and her friend Trudy who walked a ridiculous amount of miles to deliver flyer's door to door in the neighborhoods surrounding our child care center. My step dad Kurt also put together huge amounts of very tedious furniture and toys.  We would never have been able to get it all put together without him.  My mom and my sister also made all the food and served at our open house.  My step-mom watched all our boys for the open house as well.  We also had our friend Jen stop by with her kids to look around and they helped take out TONS of garbage and card board from moving in.  Plus, our friends Cindy and Tony let us borrow their trailer to move our stuff into the center.  They also helped do heavy lifting.  We were truly blessed with good family and friends and we certainly couldn't have done this on our own.  We are looking forward to a long and successful future at Active Minds Child Care and Preschool!
