The story of the Mormon Menorah

I had a friend that was asking me about our "Mormon Menorah" so I thought I would share the story. When my mom and Kurt got married, they had a log decorated in greenery that had holes drilled in it to hold candles for each person of our family. During their wedding they each lit a candle and made promises to each of the kids and then when all the candles were lit, they put theirs in too. Well, after that we started using the log as a centerpiece for Christmas Eve and Christmas day dinner. We started joking that it was our "Mormon Menorah." Now each Christmas eve we each light a candle and make a wish for the coming year. It's one of my favorite traditions. As the family has grown we've had to add additional logs to the "menorah" and when the whole family is together for Christmas, it looks like there is a downed tree on top of the table. It's a fun tradition.
