Dustin on the mountain

We were supposed to go to Utah after Christmas to spend time with Dustin's family but the snow prevented us from traveling. It was just to dangerous and the roads were closed the day we were supposed to leave. We wanted to make the best of our weekend so we planned some fun activities. Sunday was Dustin's birthday and we had a yummy sea food dinner. It was a good one! Then we decided that Monday, Dustin and I would go skiing. We only ski once or twice a year and this was a good opportunity. It was sooo much fun! I didn't fall at all, which is a miracle too. I'm not a very good skier. Dustin, however, is a great skier. This is how a typical ski trip looks. We get to the top of the hill and I start down the hill. I go very slowly and make wide turns (my mother would be so proud). Dustin waits until I'm a good ways down and then starts heading down. If I stop, he'll catch up with me in no time at all and then I'll head down while he waits for a while before coming down after me again. He's never said it, but sadly, the reason he lets me go first is so he can get my skis and poles for me if/when I fall. It's very sweet. He never complains about having to do the easy runs and even suggests some of the green ones so I can have fun. We both had fun though. It was nice to have a daytime date. We did feel bad about leaving the boys all day though, especially Britton who wanted to come with us. Our guilt got the better of us in the end and we took the boys to Chuck E Cheese for some fun when we got home. They thought it was totally worth it! According to Britton, we're the best parents ever!

If I ever take up skiing, we'll have to go. Shannon is a great skier, he took Spencer up last Friday. Spencer didn't let go once. I'm sure they will try again.
